Take Control With ADJ’s NET 4 and NET 8 DMX-over-Ethernet Nodes

As part of the company’s continued product line expansion, with a focus on the mid-market of the professional entertainment lighting industry, ADJ is pleased to introduce two new DMX-Over-Ethernet nodes. Packed with features and designed for ease of use, the NET 4 and NET 8 are compact units engineered to allow fast and reliable data transmission within a medium-to-large-scale lighting network using Ethernet technology.

Both units feature RJ45 Ethernet input and output ports and are compatible with standard DMX512, including RDM, as well as the Art-Net and sACN protocols. They can be used with both line voltage and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) systems as well as DHCP or static IP addressing. A convenient 1.7” LCD display screen on the front panel of each model allows intuitive configuration via a menu interface navigated using a rotary push-to-select control. In addition, the devices can also be configured remotely via a web browser interface and feature LED indicators for each socket that signal data transmission activity.

The devices also feature a programmable memory which can be used to store up to 24 pre-programmed Shows, each made up of up to 100 Scenes with custom fade times. Up to 10 Events can then be programmed to run either a Show or Scene automatically at a particular time of day on a given day of the week. In addition, the devices can be configured to run a chosen Scene upon losing a DMX signal. Adding to their versatility, the devices can also be configured to operate as DMX splitters.

The extremely compact NET 4 is half 19” rackmount size and weighs just 3.16lbs (1.43kg). It can be attached to a DIN rail using dedicated adaptors (sold separately) or two units can be mounted side by side on an Aria X2 Shelf (sold separately) for rack installation. It is also fitted with an M12 threaded mounting socket (supplied with an M10 insert) as well as a safety eyelet, allowing for mounting directly to truss using a standard clamp (not supplied). The unit features four 5-pin DMX sockets on its rear panel alongside locking power input / output (thru) sockets and a power switch, while the Ethernet sockets are located on the front panel.

The larger NET 8 is 19” rack mount size (1U), fitted with rack ears, and weighs 4.76lbs. (2.16kg). It offers eight 5-pin DMX sockets on its rear panel. A locking power input socket is also located on the rear panel, as are the Ethernet sockets, while the power switch on this model is positioned on the front panel.

“Following the evolution of ADJ’s product catalog over recent years, the addition of DMX-over-Ethernet nodes to our range was a logical progression,” comments ADJ USA’s Director of Sales, Alfred Gonzales. “These devices have been developed to be both powerful and versatile as well as intuitive to setup and configure. Suitable for system integration as well as temporary event production and touring applications, they allow Ethernet networking technology to be easily utilized for transmitting lighting control data from a light console to anywhere it is needed.”

The NET 8 is available now worldwide. The NET 4 is due to begin shipping from ADJ USA later this month (April 2025) and will be available from ADJ Europe in the summer.
